Turkey agrees to accept Sweden in NATO, bill passed in parliament
NATO members in Western Europe are not barred by Turkey. After four hours of debate, Turkish lawmakers agreed to admit Sweden to NATO.
It also removed another obstacle on Sweden's way to becoming a NATO member. The Turkish parliament has approved Sweden's proposal to join.
Last Tuesday, a related bill was passed in the Turkish Parliament. Muslim Turkey's 287 lawmakers vote on the bill. I was 55 people. Four other lawmakers did not vote.
Sweden and Finland applied for non-Toro membership in 2022. Last April, Finland gave the green signal to Turkey and its barricades, after 20 months of peaceful conditions, Mar Turkey.
Turkey’s
parliament has voted in favour of Sweden joining Nato, marking a significant
step forward in the Scandinavian country’s long-fought bid to enter the western
military alliance.
After comments in the Turkish parliament, Sweden's director Wolf Krysson told the Express, "Our mistakes are our mistakes. Sweden has taken another step in the wrong direction."
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg also called Turkey's nomination a host holiday, saying he is now on the sidelines of Hangar Parla.
Sweden and Finland applied for NATO membership as a deterrent to Russian aggression. Finland gains NATO membership in April. Hungary is the seller of Sweden's membership intent.
