Following the crash of a fighter jet at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, which left many seriously injured and burned, India has promptly taken steps to provide medical assistance.
India is sending experienced burn specialists, skilled nurses, and advanced medical equipment. According to a report by BBC Bangla, this initiative was quickly coordinated between the foreign ministries of Bangladesh and India.
A senior official from India’s Ministry of External Affairs told the BBC that two experienced burn doctors and a small team of nurses are expected to arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday, July 22.
He added that, if necessary, more medical specialists would be sent. Emergency medical equipment is also being dispatched to help ensure advanced treatment for the burn victims.

Immediately after the incident, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri contacted relevant officials in Bangladesh by phone and assured full support from India in any way needed.
On Monday evening, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the crash in a message on social media platform X.
He stated, “In this difficult time, India stands by Bangladesh and is ready to provide all necessary assistance.” Following his message, continuous communication has been ongoing between the two governments through the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Bangladeshi officials informed India that most of the injured had suffered severe burns, and specialized burn care, modern equipment, and medicines were urgently needed.
In response to this request, India promptly took the necessary steps and finalized the decision to send the medical team and supplies.
This humanitarian assistance is being viewed as a significant example of the bilateral relationship between the two countries. Observers believe this timely cooperation will play a key role in strengthening India-Bangladesh ties further.
